Milestones & Millstones
Milestones and Millstones Cover.png

Millstones and Milestones. Side by side these two words look almost
identical. Change one letter and they become opposites. One measures progress, the other is a giant stone hung around our necks, stopping progress.
I love this concept, believing that simple changes in our lives can make us
better. Simple moments of joy can lift us out of dark places. Simple flashes of
enlightenment can change our view and our point of view.
I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease about four years ago and my
decline is now accelerating. Very large stones weigh me down more and more each day. And anxiety and depression, two things I’ve heretofore never experienced, cloud my outlook and complicate my plans. This book is a continuation of my search for moments of joy, needed much more than ever before. Have a look. You can borrow some of mine if you like.

Pandemic, Penguin Poop, & Pond Scum

We are well past the Covid crap, we all hope. Thankfully, we’ve moved past that massive disruption to our way of life even though we are still a bit wary of the nonsense that came from the geniuses in D.C., those bandits of the beltway. We now have a much clearer picture of just how wishy-washy Washington is.
In the wake of it all I’ve been writing about places, experiences and people that cheer me up, make me laugh and are committed to living joyful lives. No pessimists allowed. This book is a mashup of musings about the happiness, the moments of inspiration, and flashes of enlightenment that pop up in the craziest of places. And learning how to spot them when they do.
It's a collection of observations about every-day goings on, a little bit of personal introspection, a touch of humor, a touch of curiousness. Nothing revelatory, more mundane than magical. Peculiarities, not a prescription. I hope there’s something here to cheer you up a bit. I’ve found new levels of joy writing about my discoveries and sharing them with you.

Still The Rivers Flowed

I’ve been a writer my entire career, developing and executing advertising and marketing campaigns for a wide variety of clients.
Like a lot of ad guys I tried my hand at writing a novel. It didn’t exactly light up the world of publishing but it was invigorating to bring to light a fictionalized story about my ancestors surviving the Great Depression.
I’ve published three non-fiction books as well, a random collection of missives and musings about my personal journey and quirky things I’ve seen along the way.
And now I’ve tried my hand at poetry. I had to reach deeper into my soul than any other writing I’ve attempted. It seemed like an important thing to do and a worthwhile reach as the hourglass accelerates its final drip of sand.
